What do you get when you go to Father's Office, chef Sang Yoon's gastropub in Los Angeles (now in both Santa Monica and Culver City)? No table service. And no pretention. There's a wood-paneled, comfortable vibe of a great local lived-in spot, but it's clean and to the point. There are great craft beers and small bites (think smoked eel, sobrasada, spinach mushrooms, and white anchovies). You can also "Eat Big" and opt for the spicy oatmeal stout ribs or the bistro steak. But lets face it, you're here for the Office Burger, which many people in L.A. refer to as the city's best burger. There's nothing bougie or frou-frou about it, just caramelized onion, bacon, Gruyre, Maytag blue, and arugula. It's a very, very juicy burger with funk, freshness, and great flavor. Checklist item? You bet. — Arthur Bovino, 2/22/2012

  • The famous "no-substitutions" burger can be ordered an hour later at the Helms Avenue location, which also has micro distilled spirits not offered at the 1953 original.
  • I had a religious experience while eating this burger. It's like sex. It's pink, it glistens, it gets all over your face but you don't care because it's just. That. Good.
  • I'm one of the few who thinks the burger here is overrated. It's good, but nothing to write home about.
  • They say this is the best burger in LA... Well shit I think it just might be
  • If I had to choose between Louboutin shoes and a Father's Office burger, I would choose a F.O. Burger. A bold statement, but try one! You will never want another burger again EVER. I'm addicted
  • Featured on LA Weekly's 99 Essential Restaurants!
  • Get there asap, try a few of the many cool beers and make sure you have the burger.
  • Get the burger, fries, and an Allagash White! Don't ask for ketchup; you won't get it. If that makes you unhappy, leave.
  • Solid beer selection and the burgers are fantastic.
  • Tons of great beer, some good food. The policy on "not modifying any food recipe" is unfortunate.
  • Burgers are amazing but don't forget about the sweet potatoe fries
  • Don't say to the bartender, "OMG I've heard SOOO much about your burger...!" and expect a surprised look. They hear that crap all day long. Just order it and move on. It's good and they know it.
