Fall Creek Vineyards, The Gem Of Texas Hill Country

The Texas Hill Country is fast becoming a destination on the map for wine connoisseurs. Fall Creek Vineyards has long been one of the primary destinations on that map. For over thirty years Susan and Ed Auler have run what is the oldest vineyard currently in operation there. Fall Creek is regarded as one of the premier choices in Texas wine. One bottle and you'll see why that is. My current favorite is Ed's Smooth Red. The name really says it all. It's a smooth, somewhat sweet, full bodied wine that goes down easily. The vineyards are located about 80 miles northwest of Austin in Tow, Texas on land that is not only perfect for growing grapes but that is also some of the most beautiful land anywhere in Texas. As the First Family of Central Texas wines, it should come as no surprise then that the Aulers have lead the charge, winning award after award for their high quality and critically acclaimed wines. Here's just a few of the more recent honors they've received-

Double Gold Medal at the 2013 Tasters Guild International Wine Competition for their 2010 Meritus

Silver Medal in 2010 for Ed's Smooth Red at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Competition

Gold Medal in 2010 for their Twin Springs Red at the San Antonio Stock show and Rodeo Completion

In addition to award winning wines the vineyard is open to the public as well! Visitors to the area are encouraged to drop by for a tour, or you can stop in for one of their special meals such as the spring time Wine and Wildflowers lunches. What could be better? A day spent touring one the prettiest places in Texas and enjoying some of the best wine the state has to offer. Check out their website for further details.
