Milwaukee, WI (RestaurantNews.com) Erbert & Gerbert’s Sandwich Shop opened its latest location at the Medical College of Wisconsin last week. This is the 30th non-traditional location for the beloved franchise chain known for its delightful theme originally based on a child’s storybook. Aside from the company’s new push in non-traditional sites, restaurants can be found in urban centers and their surrounding areas.
With a total of 92 locations currently operating in 17 states, Erbert & Gerbert’s is on the fast track to becoming one of the fastest growing sandwich chains in the U.S.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome the Medical College of Wisconsin to the Erbert & Gerbert’s family,” said Eric Wolfe, CEO of Erbert & Gerbert’s. Lancer Hospitality, the operator of the newest location also operates the Erbert & Gerbert’s location at the Minnesota Zoo. Originally founded in 1976 by two college buddies, Glenn Baron and Steve Craver, the pair still own and manage Lancer Hospitality. Today the group boasts numerous restaurants and concession operations at high profile zoos, museums, cultural attractions, schools and business centers across the country.
According to Jeff Lataille, a Senior Regional Manager for Lancer Hospitality who will be operating the Medical College site, “Our recent opening of our Erbert & Gerbert’s here at the college went very smoothly. We’re happy with this brand because the sandwiches and soups are fresh and Erbert & Gerbert’s will give a strong brand presence to the campus as they are already a stalwart of Wisconsin.”
“Ultimately, the difference between Erbert & Gerbert’s and our competition is the quality of our products and our service platform, and our great operating partners like Lancer Hospitality,” Wolfe said. “You can’t find sandwiches and soups like ours. But I believe competition makes you better. It’s just like sports. If you play with better people, you become a better player.”
