Jon Favreau's 'Chef' Movie Is Getting A Bollywood Remake

Chef — the film that featured Jon Favreau as the chef who leaves his position at an upscale restaurant to start his own food truck after a terrible review that hits too close to home — is being remade for Bollywood, according to Variety. The film will star popular Indian actor Saif Ali Khan in Favreau's role, though not much else is known. A director has yet to be chosen.

The original film enlisted the help of LA chef Roy Choi as a culinary consultant, and Choi actually created all the food that appears in Chef, so it's possible that this remake, which is being "adapted for the Indian palate while retaining the flavor of the original," will also hire a chef to consult over the menu.

"I'm excited to see how this personal film translates to the Indian culture," Favreau said. "The themes of food, music and family should resonate well."

Thanks to the first Chef, meanwhile, Favreau and Choi have been able to resurrect El Jefe, the food truck featured in the film, a number of times, and have hinted that the truck may one day become its own restaurant.
