Drake Joins Longstanding Hip Hop Tradition Of Rappers With Their Own Brand Of Booze

Drake's got a really big team and they need some really nice things — that's why the rapper is getting ready to launch his own whiskey line.

It's a tried-and-true business strategy that has worked out for Jay-Z and his favorite Champagne, Ace of Spades; Diddy and Ciroc, Nicki Minaj and Myx, Ludacris and Conjure Cognac, Cam'ron for Sizzurp, and plenty more.

Now, Drake is set to launch Virginia Black Whiskey, a venture he announced on Instagram with the striving caption, "After that legendary moment, what else is there to do but celebrate with class. Virginia Black coming soon..." The brand's website displays the same black and gold image from Drake's post.

It's also not his first foray into the culinary world — Drake already owns a restaurant in his hometown of Toronto — Fring's, alongside Canadian celebrity chef Susur Lee — and he even dedicated a line to Guy Fieri on "6 Man": "Fieri, I'm in the kitchen, I'm a magician."

Details about the project remain scarce, but once the brand is up and running, we'll probably be seeing plenty of Virginia Black endorsements throughout Drake's music videos and a synergistic cocktail menu at Fring's.
