Macadamia nuts are a favorite of many. Rich and indulgent, they take desserts to a whole new level. Besides the ever-popular almonds and pecans, macadamia nuts should always be present at your dinner party — they’re sure to elevate your dessert bar.
Macadamia nuts were first discovered in 1858 by Walter Hill, superintendent of the City Botanic Gardens in Brisbane, Australia, when he noticed a child eating them. Since then, this nut has made its way to Hawaii, which it thrived in the tropical environment.
Macadamias can be ground and used in cookie and pastry dough or in a pie shell for a nutty twist. If you’re making the Macadamia Nut Fudge, using ground nuts instead of whole will give your treat an overall taste of macadamia.
Toasted macadamias are great as well — they add a bright flavor to dessert. Try making brownies and substituting toasted macadamias instead of walnuts for a bolder taste. Here are a few more party desserts made with macadamia nuts that you should try.
