Where To Dine With Mom In New York City On Mother's Day 2016

On May 8th (but really everyday, of course), treat Mom like the smart, strong, and awesome woman she is! These New York City restaurants will help you make this Mother's Day the best one yet.

Ai Fiori
It's all about Mom today, so why not surprise her with a three-course meal and a delightful activity too? Ai Fiori is putting on a unique floral arrangement art class with L'Atellier Rouge alongside a special Mother's Day brunch. Reserve a one hour spot at 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., or 1:45 p.m. And if you really want to spoil Mom (she deserves it!) check out this special retreat retreat package being offered. As for the main event (food!), starters range from a chilled pea soup with whipped ricotta; a red snapper crudo; and a Nova Scotia lobster with pea tendrils. Featured entrées from the sea are pan-seared sea scallops with smoked eggplant; Atlantic halibut; a smoked salmon Benedict; and more. Hearty dishes offered include a prime dry aged strip loin with a potato terrine and a duck hash with poached egg. As for desserts, they all sound amazing, especially the torta di cioccolato, which is a walnut cake, dark chocolate cremeux, and a salted caramel gelato.

Tavern on the Green
This iconic brunch spot, which was recently named among the top 100 brunch restaurants in the U.S., will be celebrating Mom with a prix fixe menu and gift giveaway. Guests will also have the opportunity to take a family portrait in Tavern's Spring Courtyard. Mothers will be treated with special gifts from Soul Cycle, apothecary products from Fresh, and a lovely flower bouquet from DeLucia Family Farm. Items on the menu include a variety of dishes from Maine lobster eggs Benedict to Classic French Toast. Bittersweet chocolate mousse and croissant bread & butter pudding, are just a few of the desserts being offered. Tavern on the Green's brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bell, Book, and Candle
This unique West Village gem is debuting its new Southern brunch menu just in time for Mom's big day. Officially dubbed Sunday Soul Brunch, this Mother's Day will be particularly special with a performance by the talented LaFredrick Soul Band. Bell, Book, and Candle's new selection will include indulgent dishes such as fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy; a pressed Muffaletta sandwich with cured meats, provolone, and olive giardiniera; Andouille house-made sausage gumbo, and a cast-iron mac and cheese. The menu cycles seasonally depending on what is ripe in the rooftop garden, which produces items year-round like herbs, tomatoes, and eggplant. Mom will also enjoy the extensive list of refreshing cocktails, such as the seasonal fruit bellini to accompany this farm-to-table meal.

Rainbow Room
The Rainbow Room is going big for Mom this year, unveiling a new cocktail called the Black Orchid just for Mother's Day. This pretty cocktail features unique ingredients such as Allaire Vodka and Cream De Violette, which is made from a base of nine violets. In addition, there will be a bacon bar (yes!), a variety of crepes, fresh-pressed juices, and desserts. À la carte specials include items like a crab and lobster cocktail; strawberry shortcake pancakes; lobster Benedict; and a springtime leg of lamb served with honey, lavender, and fennel pollen. Plus, there will be live music will be performed by the Nightingale Jazz Band. Brunch reservations are available 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Dovetail
Located by the currently blossoming Central Park on the Upper West Side, Dovetail is offering a special Mother's Day prix fixe menu complete with canapés for table that include tasty bites such as strawberry-yogurt tartlets and foie gras gougère. A range of indulgent entrées moms will love are on the menu, including a taleggio fondue lobster omelet; crab egg Benedict; citrus French toast with huckleberry maple and house bacon; and maitake mushroom lamb shank. And of course no proper brunch (or meal for that matter) is complete without dessert! Sweets offered will be pistachio rice pudding; yogurt panna cotta; and rhubarb Mexican chocolate entremet.

Boulud Sud
For a brunch that won't be forgotten any time soon, reserve a table at chef Daniel Boulud's Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, Boulud Sud. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a three-course meal is offered along with a kids' menu option. For fresh, light appetizers you can chose from a Greek yogurt parfait with fruit and date honey; a Spring potato and leek soup; octopus with arugula, among other starters. Delectable main courses range from a sweet pistachio French toast with rose chantily to dishes like a Tuscan egg frittata or a harissa lamb burger with Saganaki and eggs. Don't forget dessert! From a strawberry-ricotta mousse to house-made ice creams, you can't go wrong.
