When Is The 2015 Wellfleet OysterFest?
Every year, the town of Wellfleet on Cape Cod welcomes the annual Wellfleet Oysterfest, and in 2015 it will be returning for its 15th year on October 17 and 18, the weekend after Columbus Day. The festival celebrates the area glorious bounty of clams, oysters, and other shellfish, and should be fun for the whole family.
The schedule of events is filled to the brim. There are art shows, exhibits, an oyster shuck-off, a 5K, live music, lectures, shopping, and comedy, but the main focus of attention will be on the food. On Friday night, the Oysterfete will take over Preservation Hall on Friday night for an elegant evening of oysters and wine, and the five-course Champagne and Caviar Dinner will be held at PB Boulangerie & Bistro. On Saturday, a "Taste the Terroir and Merroir" seminar will pair local oysters and wines, guests can tour oyster flats, and explore Mayo Beach. Sunday kicks off with a 5K road race, and later there's a cooking demo from chef Michael Ceraldi, a lecture on sea turtles, and the oyster shucking finals.
