Washington DC New Menu Report: 5/11/16

Now that grilling season is here, it makes sense to celebrate the art of the burger and National Burger Month, which always falls in May. Not wanting to be left out of the beef brawl, eateries all over the District are featuring special burgers that put new twists on old classics, add exotic or unexpected condiments, and come served with a range of buns and sides. The trick is to see how many you can sample before the end of the month. And if you want to go for a more upscale tasting experience, go for rare magnum wines every Tuesday. We're on board with either challenge, how about you?

Ardeo+Bardeo
This month Ardeo+Bardeo, one of Cleveland Park's favorite hotspots, is putting a new twist on the classic by offering the Grilled Burger, which is an all beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, ginger fry sauce, and onion-basin jam on a sesame bun.

Blue Duck Tavern
And so it goes... we continue to highlight the weekly "Blue Duck Uncorked" wine program at Blue Duck Tavern. It runs every Tuesday until July 26, 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Each week, the restaurant is pouring one specially selected rare magnum not found on the restaurant's featured wine list by the glass for $30 each glass. The selection for next Tuesday, May 17 is an iconic California Chardonnay that exhibits its unique terroir: Peter Michael Winery Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène Alexander Valley Sonoma Valley California 2000.

Cuba Libre Restaurant Rum & Bar
If you are partial to the Mambo and Latin food, head to Cuba Libre Restaurant Rum & Bar to try its burger for National Burger Month. It's called the Churrasco steak burger and is made with all natural Black Angus skirt steak, served with pickle frita sauce, chipotle-onion marmalade, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato, sandwiched between a brioche roll, and accompanied by boniato chips and Cuba Libre steak sauce.

Off The Record
"Gotcha" moments and news scoops rule the news cycle in D.C. but here's a news flash you can sample at Off The Record at The Hay-Adams Hotel: they're serving its own burger for May: the Off The Record (OTR) Burger. It's a beef burger topped with caramelized onions, wild mushrooms, sugar-cured bacon, Gruyere cheese, and OTR sauce served with fries.
