Washington, DC New Menu Report: 4/13/16

Get ready to explore all the DC has to offer this week! Go all out with Hawaiian shirts, leis, and tropical drinks; celebrate Passover with alternative menus for brunch and dinner; eat crispy Chinese chicken at an all American burger place; and indulge in sweet strawberry pie to help a worthy cause. Sounds like a fun week to me!

Equinox
For those looking for an alternative Seder feast, Equinox is offering two unique Passover-related menus to try. The first is a Seder dinner on Friday, April 22 that features a Sephardic-influenced meal optionally paired with boutique Israeli wines. Guests must be seated at 7:15 p.m. so the Seder can start promptly at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $55 per person, plus tax gratuity, along with an additional $80 per person, plus tax and gratuity, for the wine pairing. The next special menu is a Passover-inspired vegan brunch on Sunday, April 24 for $35.00 per person plus beverages, tax and gratuity (children under 12 $15).

Jack Rose Dining Saloon
Get ready to raise your spirits with the new menus being offered at Jack Rose Dining Saloon. It will be opening its Tiki Bar and Rooftop Terrace to celebrate the arrival of warm weather and will feature new spring cocktails and a new wood-fire grill menu. While at the Tiki Bar look for tropical cocktails flavored with coconut, pineapple, guava, rum, and other island spirits, as well as fruit-infused beers. Also on the menu is island-inspired fare like spicy sweet pork belly and ginger rum-glazed pit roasted chicken wings available during "Tiki Thursdays" happy hour, beginning April 21. Happy Hour runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and during happy hour all cocktails and food are half-price. On the wood-fire menu, check out the new seasonal cocktails, beers, and special boilermakers you can pair with dishes like pit grilled tacos, Creole garlic shrimp, and a soft shell crab sandwich.

Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
Back on the menu horizon for April is Pie it Forward pie-of-the-month program from Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab. Via the Pie it Forward program, Joe's donates one dollar from every slice of pie ordered to a select charity. This month, the featured pie is the strawberry ice cream pie and the charity is Communities in Schools of the Nation's Capital, which works to keep students in schools so they can succeed in school and in life.

Shake Shack
Feel like crispy chicken? Or in the mood for a creamy shake? Head over to any Shake Shack in the DMV from Friday, April 15 through April 24 and satisfy both your cravings. This favorite burger chain is featuring a special crispy Peking chicken sandwich. For $6.49 you can order this sandwich, which is a collaboration between Shake Shack culinary director Mark Rosati and chef Erik Bruner-Yang. It's made with a crispy, cage-free chicken breast that is garnished with Maketto hoisin sauce, a pickle, cucumber, and scallion.
