Washington, DC New Menu Report: 2/3/16

 

Even if you don't the difference between a down and a field goal, you can't miss the hoopla about Super Bowl 50. D.C. is a football crazed town and the Redskins might not be playing, but everyone will be watching the game, half show, and noshing till they drop on everything from Taiwanese fried chicken to pizza. For a more upscale pre-game activity there are magnums of rare to try, and that's what's on menus across the District this week.

Blue Duck Tavern
We hope you are enjoying the weekly Tuesday lineup featured in the "Blue Duck Uncorked" wine program at Blue Duck Tavern. Every Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. until March 29, they are pouring one specially selected rare magnum not found on the restaurant's featured wine list. Lucky guests can count on Blue Duck Tavern general manager Joseph Cerione's choices and can try each vintage by the glass for $30. Next Tuesday's selection for February 9 is an exceptional wine from the northern Côtes du Rhône by a historic winemaking family. Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap
If you just can't motivate to put together a party mix for Super Bowl 50 game day, why not consider take out from Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap in Alexandria. They are featuring a special 'Big Game' to-go platter available on Sunday, February 7th that's loaded with hearty Italian fare for $40 plus tax and gratuity. Just can't get enough Maketto goodies? Pick up your game day stuff by placing a pre-order at Honeycomb and get it hot to take home. They are offering pork and leek bao buns for $3 dollars each, a dozen regular or vegetable fried dumplings for $8 dollars, Taiwanese fried chicken with two baguettes for two to four people for $30 dollars, and a ramen party for four people for $40 dollars in your choice of pork or vegetable.

Shake Shack
Nothing says football like a big juicy burger and shake. For $50 dollars, Shake Shack is offering a Big Game Shack Pack this Sunday, February 7, to help you celebrate Super Bowl 50. Each pack includes 10 Shack Burgers, 2 pints of custard, and 1 mini Shake Shack football.  You can call orders in now and pick them up Sunday at all local DMV locations.
