Too Hot Tamales Kick Off Vegas Uncork'd At Downtown LA's Border Grill

On Thursday, April 21, the Two Hot Tamales chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken hosted a small group of food writers at their Border Grill restaurant for a sample dinner previewing dishes they will prepare at the upcoming Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appetit event. The special preview menu began with an elderflower paloma cocktail with tequila blanco and fresh grapefruit juice, lamb meatball, Peruvian ceviche tostaditas, and quinoa fritters appetizers.

The dinner included homemade chips and guacamole; Caribbean carpaccio with cod, aji Amarillo, and coconut; a Tijuana kale Caesar salad with cotija cheese croutons; tamales; a taco duo of lettuce and esquite salad; grilled snapper; and desserts, including a strawberry tres leches cake and café de olla with Patron. Libations of Patron Tequila, sangria, and a special spiked kumquat lemonade with infused tequila were also offered. At the special dinner, chefs Feniger and Milliken talked about the dishes they prepared, the special ingredients used, and also shared details about their upcoming events for the 10th annual Vegas Uncork'd event.

On Friday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Border Grill in the Forum Shops, the Two Hot Tamales will be heading a lunchtime learning event featuring a cooking class in which they will be sharing dishes and cooking tips and techniques. The chefs will be preparing a multi-course event with specialty cocktails.

Furthermore the chefs will participate in the Friday night Grand Tasting at Caesars Palace. On Saturday, April 30, Feniger and Milliken will host a top-shelf tequila tasting dinner where they will be sharing tequila tips and stories. They will also be creating a four-course modern Mexican tasting menu paired with handcrafted tequila and cocktails. In addition, they will unveil their limited edition Barrel Select Reposado Tequila.

Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appetit officially kicks off Thursday, April 28 with tastings, seminars, brunches, lunches, and dinners and continues though Sunday, May 1. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Vegas Uncork'd will feature extravagant soirees and a world-class lineup of renowned chefs from Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, The Venetian, and The Palazzo.

Events that still have tickets include Dinner on the Strip hosted by chefs Emeril Lagasse and Daniel Boulud on Thursday, April 28 at 8 pm; Fete du Jardin: A Vegetarian Lunch with Daniel Boulud at 12:30; Lunchtime Learning & Libations with Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger at 1 pm on Friday, April 29; and the Two Hot Tamales Top Shelf Tequila Tasting Dinner at 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 30.
