New Orleans Restaurants Offer Take-Out Dishes For Thanksgiving

The holiday season is a time to celebrate, give thanks, and gather with those most dear to our hearts. Just as important, it's a time to stuff our faces with a cornucopia of traditional and non-traditional Thanksgiving dishes. We kid! Sort of. The reality of holiday season, though, is that someone always gets stuck with the stress of preparing the meal. Brigtsen's is offering a holiday take-out menu that includes traditional Thanksgiving sides like cornbread dressing, candied sweet potatoes, and popcorn rice. Cochon Butcher is once again supplying meats including turkeys, boudin-stuffed turkeys, jambalaya-stuffed chickens, and whole hogs. Consider this restaurant a one-stop shop, as it will also be serving sides like mac and cheese and green bean casserole along with an assortment of fresh baked pies, cakes, and cookies. Desi Vegas is taking orders for turkey breast, salad, and a wide variety of sides including shrimp mirliton dressing. You will also find turtle soup and seafood gumbo on the menu. Gracious Bakery is the place to go for an assortment of homemade sweet and savory breads, cakes, pies, and pastries. Their specialty this holiday is the twofer pie — pumpkin pie layered on top of pecan pie. Pre-orders must be made by Monday, Nov. 21, with a 15 percent discount offered to those who order by Nov. 17. Willa Jean has got all things both savory and sweet on its Thanksgiving take-out menu. Order the roulade of turkey breast, and choose from several side options like baked pimento mac and cheese, cornbread stuffing, and cranberry and citrus cranberry sauce. In true Willa Jean fashion, the dessert line-up is extensive and includes apple pie cake; sweet potato, pineapple, and toasted honey marshmallow pie; and spiced rum cake among other sweets.
