A Midsummer Night's Dream: Upstairs At The Kimberly Hotel And Shakespeare In The Park

What better way to kick off an unforgettable night with a Public Works Shakespeare in the Park performance in Central Park than cocktails and appetizers at a rooftop lounge?

Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel, a longtime sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park, offers views of Midtown Manhattan and the Chrysler Building.

It has three separate indoor/outdoor atmospheres, perfect for enjoying the stunning views no matter the weather. I had the opportunity to visit the penthouse lounge on an especially warm day and was thankful for the air-conditioned space while still being able to enjoy the rooftop.

On the menu are small plates by chef David Andrews and cocktails created by Alex Ott and the Upstairs staff.

Savory food options include yellowfin tuna tartare, truffle mac & cheese, gambas a la plancha, and spiced duck cigars. Sweet offerings include sticky toffee pudding, chocolate cherry molten cake, and a caramel ice cream sandwich.

On the cocktail menu are The Mistress ("a mysterious and flawless blend of citrus, Pisco, elderflower, and a whisper of licorice"), The Chrysler ("made with the finest honey, Hennessy Black cognac, and fresh lemon and lime"), and Rum Service, which is described as "the manliest drink alive."
