Proceeds from This Pizza In Honor of Pope Francis Will Benefit No Kid Hungry

It's well-known that Pope Francis is a big pizza fan. In fact, he discovered that the biggest problem accompanying his fame is an inability to grab a slice. After the pope proclaimed "The only thing I would like is to go out one day, without being recognized, and go to a pizzeria for a pizza," restaurateur Enzo Cacialli delivered to him a personalized pie. Now that Pope Francis is visiting New York City, a local pizzeria is determined to ensure His Holiness doesn't go without a personalized pie in Gotham. Inspired by Cacialli, Ribalta's Rosario Procino introduced a papal pizza available through December 31. A portion of the proceeds will benefit national hunger relief organization No Kid Hungry.

In other famous-people-and-food news, we imagine President Obama doesn't eat that many leftovers, but he made an exception for his Running Wild adventure in Alaska with outdoor adventurist Bear Grylls. Obama ate a salmon carcass left behind by a bear on the special episode. For the record, Obama called Grylls "a mediocre cook," but said  the fact that they "ate something recognizable was encouraging."

Blinded by the Light? Women in Hong Kong Are Staring Directly Into the Sun to Lose Weight

A bizarre weight-loss trend has gained traction in Hong Kong. Women are attempting to suppress their appetites by staring at the sun, a technique known as "sun-eating." The women, mostly in their 20s, skip dinner and head to the beach with face-protection gear to soak in "the energy of the sun" for an hour. Someone should probably tell them photosynthesis is for plants.

And that's today's Daily Dish. Thanks for watching. Stop by tomorrow for another helping.
