The Daily Dish: May 18, 2016

Today's first course?

Congratulations are in order for Gordon Ramsey, and his wife Tana, who will welcome their new baby – a boy – late this summer. The British chef, restauranteur, and TV personality made the announcement on a recent episode of The Late Late Show on CBS. The couple already have four children who range in age from 17 to 14. Talk about an age gap!

Four people who found themselves trapped at sea in a boat with no food or water are lucky to be alive thanks to a diet of raw fish. The people managed to get the boat turned right side up after it overturned. That's when they realized they lost all their food and water and everyone who checked their phones found them to be soaked and incapable of calling for help. They floated for 10 days, surviving on just raw flying fish that landed in the boat and water that condensed on the side of a plastic full of sea water.

IKEA is opening a chef-driven pop-up restaurant in Paris, and in true DIY fashion, it is having amateur chefs take the lead on designing the menu. The restaurant, which is called Krogen, will be open from June 7 to June 25. It's located "in Paris's upscale Le Marais neighborhood." Amateur chefs are challenged to prepare a three-course meal costing less than $11.40 per customer that also incorporates a menu item from IKEA's cafeteria. Twenty-four semifinalists will be selected by the end of the month, and 15 will compete during the pop-up event for the top prize of an internship at Alain Ducasse's kitchen and an IKEA gift card of 500 Euros.

That's today's Daily Dish, thanks for watching. Stop by tomorrow for another helping.
