Bourbon Steak At LA's Americana Elevates Mall Dining

Celebrity chef Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak brings classic dishes with modern twists to Glendale's Americana at Brand outdoor mall.

Bourbon Steak is both contemporary and classic. Housed on the corner of Colorado Avenue and Brand Boulevard and anchoring one end of the Americana mall, the restaurant has an airy and open atmosphere with a modern dark wood interior, long spacious bar section, round tan leather booths, and a patio. The lounge serves happy hour dishes and custom cocktails.

This Bourbon Steak is Mina's eighteenth restaurant, and he made an excellent choice when selecting chef Kyle Johnson to command the kitchen. Every table receives a trio of duck fat fries with sauces as a pre-dinner treat. The menu includes Mina staples such as the lobster pot pie and grass-fed steaks but also offers unique dishes including kampachi belly tartare, duck spring rolls, hamachi and tuna poppers, Japanese wagyu shabu shabu, and English pea agnolotti. There is also drama to watch with tableside presentations of the famous lobster pot pie as well as the bourbon flights.

Steaks range in location of origin as well as cut. Menu options include prime Black Angus and wagyu from the U.S.,, Australia, and Japan. All can be topped with béarnaise, bourbon, or green peppercorn sauces and paired with lobster, prawns, bone marrow, or crab. In addition to steak and that lobster pot pie, Bourbon Steak's menu includes a pork chop, halibut with mushrooms and bamboo rice, and organic chicken. Sides are also both classic and innovative with grilled broccoli with chiles and Parmesan, twic- baked potato, black truffle mac and cheese, and curried carrots and cauliflower.

Diners can choose from a variety of desserts including a white chocolate sundae, New York cheesecake, and bourbon bar with a chocolate brownie and peanut butter ganache, as well as Mina's signature root beer float. In addition to dinner, Bourbon Steak is also open for lunch, serving lighter fare in the café, bar, and patisserie.
