Timothy Maslow, chef of the Brookline restaurant Ribelle in Boston, was arrested at the Canadian border last Friday, February 26, with more than 20 pounds of marijuana edibles.
The chef, whose restaurant earned a stellar four-star review in 2013 from the Boston Globe, was stopped at 4:44 a.m. by border authorities as he was driving into the United States from Canada.
Agents who searched Maslow’s vehicle found 22.5 pounds of edibles, an unidentified controlled substance, and a pipe, according to the Boston Globe. Maslow was taken into custody at the Franklin County Courthouse in St. Albans, Vermont, by a Vermont State policeman and charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a depressant, stimulant, and narcotic.
Although the chef pleaded not guilty, he claimed that the full amount of illegal substances belonged to him. The arresting officer, Corporal George Rodriguez, noted that Maslow was “very cooperative.”
He was released on $5,000 bail.
