Elysian Brewing And Thunderpussy Team Up To Help Seattle's Homeless

To kick off the new year, Elysian Brewing Company is debuting a special new beer. And to debut the brand-new brew, Seattle's longstanding craft brewery is hosting a free concert for a good cause. This Friday, Jan. 13, at its original Capitol Hill brewhouse, Elysian's Peated Porter will be ceremonially tapped to the tunes of Seattle's sultriest rock band, Thunderpussy. Proceeds from each pint sold during the event will go to Plymouth Housing Group, a charity that provides homes to local homeless adults.

Part of Elysian's Capitol Hill Series, the Peated Porter is not your average porter. It is brewed with pale, Munich, chocolate, and Special B malts and just enough peated malt and midnight wheat for a touch of dark color. To help balance out the peaty aroma, the porter is bittered with Magnum and whirlpool additions of Fuggle and Chinook hops. Capitol Hill's lead brewer, Hiawatha Rhyans, will be at the event to toast his new brew.

This free event is for those 21 and over. It kicks off at 7 p.m., at Elysian Capitol Hill, 1221 E. Pike St.
