Drew Brees Opens His Second Jimmy John's

Drew Brees has become somewhat of a jack of all trades as an all-star quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, a clothing designer, and now the owner of not one but two Jimmy John’s franchises in New Orleans.

Brees already owns one Jimmy John’s sandwich shop in Metarie, but now has plans to open another on Maple Street. At today’s city council meeting Brees’ Jimmy John’s location was approved by 7-0 vote, which was live-tweeted from Uptown Messenger’s Robert Morris.

But not everyone is as excited about the new franchise – zoning laws previously inhibited any fast-food chains from opening in the approved neighborhood, but the restrictions were modified to allow for this Jimmy John’s location.

Brees has not signed a new contract for the New Orleans Saints, but maybe there is a third Jimmy John’s is in his future.
