Dining At 95 Ocean Restaurant In Maine

An hour and a half north of Boston is the lovely waterfront Nonantum Resort in picturesque Kennebunkport, Maine. The Nonantum Resort's atmosphere is hip yet relaxed and it's an ideal place to stay for couples, families, or even a getaway with friends. Inside you'll find their highly regarded charmer of a restaurant, 95 Ocean. Bright and airy, 95 Ocean has a simple, straightforward menu highlighting local seafood and produce from nearby farms. I was particularly impressed with some of their delicious appetizers like Maine lobster cakes and the BBQ duck flatbread pizza featuring the chef's signature blueberry maple chipotle sauce. Yum! The Maine crab-encrusted diver scallops entrée sprinkled with the Nonantum Resort's homegrown herbs was out of this world.

And never to be missed on my list are the cocktails! 95 Ocean has a wonderful menu of handcrafted drinks also using local ingredients wherever possible. The Ocean Ave Spritzer has Maine blueberry mead mixed with lemon rum, honey soda, lemon, blueberries and the Nonantum's very own rosemary. The Blueberry Mojito has Maine's Cold River Blueberry Vodka, Wyman's Wild Blueberry Juice mixed with lemonade and homemade muddled mint. And one I can never pass up, Nonantum's version of a Negroni with New England Distilling's Ingenium Gin from Portland, Maine, and aged DOP balsamic mixed with dry vermouth.

95 Ocean is the perfect place for a taste of Maine both visually and literally. With weekly wine dinners and a soon-to-be-launched Community Dinner Series, the Nonantum Resort has done an amazing job making 95 Ocean not just an establishment for their guests but also a destination for locals. Also, during the entire month of September, look for 95 Ocean's partnership with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry program, where 95 Ocean will feature nightly dinner specials and a portion of the profits will be donated to help end child hunger and malnutrition.
