Foursquare Tips

  • Totally worth the 200 steps
  • The earlier the better. Gates open at 6am.
  • Be sure to wear comfortable shoes - tennis or hiking - no flip flops or heels. Wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring water!! This hike takes 1-2 hours, but is well worth it once you get to the top!
  • Hike the 300,000 years-old crater and take in the amazing view of the famed Waikiki coastline. Once you conquer the uphill hike, its smooth sailing on the way down!
  • Go whenever you want. So what if you're hot and sweaty? Being at the top with an amazing 360 AND a cool breeze is completely worth the sweat to get there.
  • It's not advisable to do this in flip flops... BUT it's do-able! I did it! Woo!
  • The view here is amazing! Lots of photo opportunities all the way to the top.
  • Go early (before 8:30) to avoid the heat. It's not a difficult walk to the top. Opens at 6am.
  • hike to the top!
  • This just in: Walking down Diamond Head is easier than walking up.
  • Start with light breakfast at the farmers market in the morning then continue to hike up the Diamond Head. Amazing 360 from top. Go down before 12noon.
  • The las hundred steps will test you, haha...
  • When you get closer to the top, the path splits to the left and right. Go right and you are greeted with "judgment steps". Extremely steep and challenging, but shorter in distance. Test yourself!
  • After going through the first set of stairs and the tunnel, there's a path to the left that's easier if you're feeling gassed.
  • Shave Ice in the parking lot is the best
  • Not too challenging, but wear good footwear and bring water. The view is worth it!
  • A short hike but pretty steep. Takes about 20-30 mins but worth the great view! Only $1 to get in for walk ins.
  • Go early and avoid the heat of the day.
  • The view is worth the trip to the top. The stairs are the most direct, but most tiring way, so you might want to try the other path.
  • Sunset down at the beach is great.
