Dewey's Pizza

Now here's a pizza parlor for all occasions. Date night? Parents in town? Skip the Loop, and hit up Dewey's instead. Call ahead though, because lines can literally stretch out the door on weekend nights.

A "Neighborhood Pizza Place," Dewey's manages to capture a slice of St. Louis among streaks of mozzarella and marinara. Boasting "great music, great beer, and great pizza," Dewey's invites with a relaxed yet lively vibe. The staff is friendly and quick, even during peak hours. Throw in fun chrome decor, and Dewey's is no less than a modern pizza-serving space bar.

Dewey's menu is simple, affordable, and fun. Pizzas (more or less NY style with hand-tossed crust) come in 11′, 13′, and 17′ options. If you're feeling hungry, an 11′ pie should do just fine. In addition to building their own pizzas with fresh ingredients that range from standard to unique (pine nuts anyone?), patrons can choose from a list of Dewey's specialty pizzas. Ever wonder what dead poets taste like? Try then the Edgar Allen Poe, a dark yet delicious mix of olives, mushrooms, and goat cheese. Other tongue-in-cheek names include The Green Lantern, Socrates' Revenge, and Dr. Dre.

Despite its relatively low-key status at WashU, Dewey's is a hit with locals and promises a refreshing break from dining as usual. With a friendly and colorful atmosphere and pizzas that can't be beat, Dewey's might be one of St. Louis's best kept secrets.
