Civilized Caveman Cooking — Chocolate Blueberry Cake with Mango Cinnamon Frosting

Civilized Caveman Cooking is authored by a 27-year-old active duty US Marine, taking great pride in his time away from home, making a difference in many people's lives. This marine, however, spent the good majority of his life overweight and out of shape. When he went to enlist, he was told he was "43 pounds over what I needed to be to even sign up, or leave for boot camp." It was that moment that he chose to prove the world wrong, and to make some changes in his life. His changes were futile, however, developing induced compartment syndrome in his legs, and prompting surgery and therapy, as well as two years in a wheel chair. In the end, it was Crossfit that changed his life, and choosing to live a Paleo lifestyle. "I am always in a state of happiness with lots of energy.  I have never been stronger, faster, or looked better and all I can thank is the whole Paleo movement." Well, we couldn't be more in awe, and are cheering him on every step of the way in his healthier life and journey in the Marines. We also are happily indulging in his blog, and can't wait to share this recipe for chocolate blueberry cake with mango cinnamon frosting that is Paleo-friendly and has photos oozing with flavor.

In this post, she gives a vegetarian Passover recipe that anyone can use.

Cookistry — Peanut Butter Cup Magic

Cookistry (Cook, Bake, Boil, and Bubble), is all about creating, experimenting, and playing with food in the kitchen. She believes cooking is a combination of art and science, where one cannot exist without the other.  In this post, she decides to take on one last adaptation of magic cake, previously tackling hazelnut flour and finely chopped nuts, and this time opting for peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Makobi Scribe — The Importance of Reading Food Labels

Makobi Scribe's many voices comprise moms and bloggers from different backgrounds. Owner Jennifer Medeios writes about her weight loss journey, recipe creations, travel excursions and more, not to mention tips and tricks from being a mom of three boys, from age 19 to age 2.  Her counterpart Kelly, also a mother of three, blogs about green tips and trends, as well as a weight loss journey of her own. In addition to these main voices, guest bloggers add to the range of voice appearing on this site. In this post, Kelly steps back to the importance of nutrition labels, and giving them a good read, something we think is important not only for dieters, but for everyone.

The Messy Baker — Easy Leftover Smashed Potatoes

The Messy Baker, Charmain Christie, blogs despite the disapproving eye of her husband and has a cookbook due on store shelves in spring 2014. She describes her influences as her mother and Canadian Living magazine; she loves fresh ingredients and balanced flavors, and won't mess with anything too complex (except for when it comes to baking). She's a trained journalist, and her favorite flavors all begin with "C"... coincidence? In this post, she targets leftovers, and gives a recipe she (appropriately) calls "smashed potatoes."
