Coffee Shop Owner Kicks Out Messy Children, Receives Praise, Criticism

If you visit Rainy Days Caffe in Washington, be sure to eat your food with care and precision.

A group of children made that mistake last week by leaving a mess of crumbs on the newly steamed carpet. The owner of the store, Lorraine "Rainy" MacDuff, marched over and promptly kicked the children and their mothers out of the store, according to the New York Daily News.

MacDuff, still fired up from the encounter and promptly posted a photo of the mess to the shop's Facebook page with the caption, "Like to take a moment to thank our customers with small children whose kids don't make a mess. A couple of ladies came in today and this is the mess their children made."

After one of the mothers shared the post with her friends, the café's Facebook page was flooded with statements of support and criticism.

"Too often parents allow their children to trash businesses and shirk their responsibilities as parents off, dumping their mess on cafés and businesses, just because they can get away with it," a user wrote, according to the NYDN.

After reportedly receiving threats, MacDuff issued and apology saying she meant it to be "snarky," not humiliating. But, despite her apology, MacDuff told KOMO News that she has no problem kicking out messy, screaming children again, though she will make it less public.

"I won't be posting pictures about it. But it probably won't be the last time," MacDuff said.
