Foursquare Tips

  • Save room for the poor mans pudding, a French-Canadian custard-like cake baked in maple syrup.
  • Chef Gene Giuffi's pig talents are some of the best in Philly, and that's really saying something. Get the crispy chicken livers and short ribs, too.
  • Brunch! The menu is filled with dream-worthy, light but sumptuous dishes like fried eggs in brioche with Nueskes bacon, roasted tomatoes and hollandaise, and a fresh Nioise salad with pink tuna.
  • Giuffi's gutsy bistro cooking is still fine-tuning some standards, but the early menu had an aptly perfect pitch with pig, from roasted shoulder to head cheese, and juniper-laced chops.
  • The poor man's pudding is a must have. Tastes like a lazy Sunday morning. Also comes with BACON ICE CREAM.
  • A wonderful little french BYOB where smokey house-made bacon aioli makes everything delicious even better. Cochon made our 2011 list of best restaurants in Philly!
  • Get the Cochon plate, it's amazing. The poor man's pudding has bacon in it... enough said. Don't forget to BYO!
  • Chef Gene Giuffi has perfected his Pork Confit and we are lucky enough to eat it. A critical darling since day one, Cochon is one of the best B.Y.O.B.'s. We also love the Chicken Livers.
  • Not nearly enough pork parts on the menu...
  • Delicious food! The snails were outstanding. Expensive if you compare it to a non byob.
  • Scott Schroeder, chef of American Sardine Bar, eats here on his nights off. He loves the Cochon plate.

  • The food is excellent, but just realize that it's a French restaurant that caters to all things pork.
  • The brunch menu is a pan-national meat-lovers' affair with Eggs Cochon and deep-fried oysters severed with fennel slaw and bacon mayo.
