Cosentino To Take Over Empellón Cocina For 1-Night-Only Dinner

Chefs Alex Stupak and Chris Cosentino are culinary titans in their respective cities (New York and San Francisco, respectively). Stupak, who got his start as Alinea and WD-50's pastry chef, took a 180-degree turn and opened the Mexican-inspired Empellón and Empellón Cocina within the past couple of years (Empellón actually opened two years ago today), and both have become wildly successful. Over in San Francisco, Cosentino's Incanto is blazing new culinary territory on a daily basis, with an emphasis on 'nose-to-tail' cuisine.

The chefs will be joining forces for a dinner at Empellón Cocina on June 28, the restaurant announced on Monday via Facebook. It's part of Stupak's "Push Project," where he invites notable chefs to join him in the kitchen for one-time-only dinners (Red Medicine chef Jordan Kahn was the guest earlier this month). "The purpose of the dinners is simple and selfish. We invite someone we admire into our kitchen in order to break up the monotony and absorb the thoughts of a brilliant cook," Stupak recently wrote at First We Feast.

The pop-up dinner will be a quarterly tradition, and Cosentino will be dropping in June 28 for one dinner, served to just 120 lucky guests. Seats will fill up fast, but aren't available online yet. Names are currently being taken for the waitlist, and the first 60 names on the list will get priority access to reservations once they become available online.
