Chopstick Cherry Pitter And 7 Other Summer Food Hacks

Make Clear Ice Cubes

For fun drinks and cocktails, you can easily make those fancy clear ice cubes at home. Boil distilled water, let cool, and boil again. After cooling slightly for a second time, carefully pour into ice cube trays, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze.

Chopstick Cherry Pitter

If you don't have one of those fancy cherry pitters around, you can easily use a chopstick or skewer instead. Place the chopstick on the stem-end of the cherry and push through. The pit will come right out!

Grill on Sliced Lemons

To prevent delicate fish from sticking to the grill grates, you can create your own non-stick surface with lemons. Slice some lemons and place them on the grill, and then place the fish on top of the lemons. This will not only prevent the fish from sticking, but will add loads of flavor.

Iced Coffee Cubes

If you're making your own cold brew at home, try making some coffee ice cubes with the extra brew. This way, when you're trying to cool down your coffee quickly, it won't end up watered down.

Get Juicer Citrus in the Microwave

If you're making a big batch of lemonade and need to squeeze every last bit of juice of the lemons, you should probably microwave them first. Prick the skin of the lemons with a fork and microwave for 15 seconds. This will break down the cells of the lemon so that more juice can be squeezed.

Make an Ice Pop Drip Catcher

In the summer, we love ice pops, but sometimes they can drip down all over our hands. Place a cupcake liner face-up around the base of the ice pop. This will keep your hands, floors, and clothes free from any sticky drips.

Keep Your Guacamole Green

Everyone loves guacamole, but nobody likes the brown mush that it can become. If you want to make it ahead of time for your party or just want a way to keep the leftovers, there is a way to keep it green. Place the guacamole in a bowl, and carefully pour in about ½-inch of lukewarm water, just enough to cover the surface. Place a tight-fitting lid on tip and it will keep for about three days. When you're ready to enjoy, pour out the water and stir.

Keep Burgers Flat

When burgers sit on the grill, sometimes they have a tendency to plump up into a giant ball. After forming the burgers into patties, make a slight indentation in the center of each patty. This will help to keep the burgers flat while grilling.
