Chefs At Home: Justin Warner's Bed-Stuy Apartment (And Pets) (Slideshow)
Justin has lived a few blocks up from Do or Dine for about two years. He has an open kitchen and lofted bed. One large street-facing window lets in a ton of natural light.
Books
Most of the books belong to Justin's girlfriend. "She's the intelligent thinking person of this relationship, I'm like...the cook," he says.
Dining Table
The vintage dining table came from a garage sale in the neighborhood.
Entryway and Kitchen
Justin builds a lot in the apartment. The loft was there when they moved it, but he added hooks for all of his hats and caddies for the remotes. He explains, "I like finding the exact right place for the exact right thing."
Justin Grating Cheese
Roomano cheese is one of his favorites. He gushes, "I'm really obsessed with this cheese. It's like an aged gouda. It's like salt, but cheese."
Kegerator and Shelves
The Star Wars mug is a hint of nerdiness in the apartment, sitting on top of a kegerator.
Merf
Justin has had Merf since high school.
Breakfast
Lucifer the cat is interested in the four-egg omelette with oyster and beech mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. "I just got a vacuum sealer, so I can do things like cook all my food to the scientifically perfect temperature, put it in a bag, and use it later. Vacuum sealers tend to scare people in that it makes food look terrifying, but the cool thing about it is that it makes everything taste better," Justin says.
Kewpie and Justin
"She loves fetch. That's all she thinks about. It's pretty much why she exists," Justin says of his dog, Kewpie.
Record Player
It's not a Brooklyn apartment without a record player.
Wall Art
Among Justin's wall art is a painting his friend did of his dog riding a buffalo (pictured at the top of the right photo).
Bonus Turtle
"I always forget that they even exist. They're practically plants, but ya know, they're alive," Justin affectionately describes his two pet turtles, Soupy and Aristurtle.
Bonus Puppy
Kewpie is named after Kewpie mayonnaise, one of Justin's favorite condiments. He even has a tattoo of the borderline creepy baby logo.
