Chef Rick Bayless To Star In Circus Show [Updated]

We almost didn't believe it, either. Rick Bayless, who is already a celebrity chef, author, TV host, and guest White House cook, is apparently starring in a circus show at Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre.

The show, called "Rick Bayless in Cascabel," is a "tantalizing love story" set in a Mexican boarding house, where a chef (Bayless) woos an appetite-less woman with food. We predict that his churros eventually break her down.

The night includes a three-course dinner from Frontera Grill, "prepared by the master chef himself." In an Aromascope-like setting, audiences get to eat the food as the actors do, according to Bayless' Twitter.

Tickets are $180 to $205 and go on sale Sept. 27 for subscribers. Normal folks will have to wait until Oct. 18, but act fast because there are only 150 seats a night. The show runs from March 21 to April 22, 2012.

Update: Bayless will be doing some circus work of his own. "Chances are he'll be doing some physical work," a rep says. "But he probably won't be on the highwire." Maybe he'll do some juggling on a unicycle?
