Celebrate White Truffle Season In Barcelona

Hotel Arts Barcelona is celebrating the highly anticipated white truffle season with the launch of two different tasting menus. The highly esteemed aromatic white truffles come from the Piemonte region in northern Italy, one of the most celebrated gastronomic regions in the country. The region is known for being the home of some of the best white truffles, and even arranges a white truffle festival in October. Harvested underground below oak trees, these edible "nuggets of gold" are gathered from October to December only, making them the most valuable ingredient on the market during this time of year.

At Hotel Arts Barcelona's restaurant Enoteca, the valued white truffle will be highlighted on menus starting Nov. 1. Diners will have the option of choosing between two truffle tasting menus, incorporating 15 grams of white truffle in the seven-course menu, and 10 grams of white truffle in the six-course menu. Each dish will be inspired by the seasonal truffle, and incorporate local, Mediterranean ingredients and flavors.

Chef Paco Pérez of Enoteca offers contemporary classic cuisine with signature dishes such as an egg cooked at low temperature paired with Iberian ham parmentier, sea urchins, and white truffle; sole gratin with sweet potato gnocchi, shrimp, and white truffle; and white chocolate, yogurt, mató, quince, and white truffle. One of chef Pérez' signature dishes, the ou de reig risotto (ou de reig is a local Catalan mushroom), is also included in the tasting menus, with the addition of the earthy white truffle.

To accompany the tasting menus, a sommelier will guide guests in matching wines, selected from the restaurants own wine cellar, which holds more than 500 wines from all over the world.

Enoteca's two white truffle tasting menus will be available through Nov. 28.
