Casual Bites In Graduate Hospital At Miles Table

You know that circular "what should we get to eat?" conversation that you can get caught in when you're feeling tired and hungry and the fridge is empty? It's not a special occasion that warrants the whole production and expense of going out to a big deal restaurant, and you're burnt out on your local pub's limited and mostly deep fried menu offerings. Maybe your dining partner isn't keen on Indian or Mexican food, and you just can't stand to look at even one more container of mediocre Chinese takeout.

If you find yourself in this predicament within the vicinity of the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, consider your problem solved. Miles Table, a 30-seat neighborhood spot at 1620 South Street offers fare that is a definite step up from the average café, but is way more casual, relaxed, and affordable than a restaurant. Grab the big booth by the window or a smaller table in the cozy dining room, and order at the counter from their fresh menu. A server will ferry over your drinks and minutes later, voila! Your breakfast, lunch, or dinner is served.

Chef Mike Lynch, a graduate of the Walnut Hill Restaurant School right here in Philly, offers up casual, delicious fare, starting with breakfast (which is served all day!). Bagels, omelettes and oatmeal are in attendance, but it's the sausage and brioche sandwich, with Sriracha turkey sausage, blue cheese, fried eggs, and arugula that's caught our eye. For lunch and dinner, options extend to salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta and a fish of the day.  Avocado BLT, a mushroom, truffle and tallegio-topped Kennett Pizza, and the Miles Salad (goat feta, butter toffee pecans, and balsamic) are just a few examples of the hearty, easygoing choices from the menu. Miles Table is also a BYOB, so a six pack of craft beer or a bottle of wine will be right at home on your table.

As Chef Lynch is also a skilled caterer, everything on the menu can be neatly packed up and taken home or back to the office. While decidedly not a typical coffee shop, Miles Table offers free WiFi, and coffee-thirsty laptop workers are welcome. They are open from 7 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
