Behind glowing, lace-curtained windows, Seattle’s best Italian ristorante beckons. Chef Jason Stratton’s Piedmontese fare is equally rustic and exquisite. Tuck into homemade pastas, like the butter and sage Tajarin, pan-seared quail, and roast endive. The candlelit room oozes romance, especially with a bottle from the well-curated Italian wine list. Apertivos at Stratton’s adjacent bar, Artusi, are a must.

Foursquare Tips

  • Sit at the bar and watch the chef's!
  • Eating at the wood-topped bar with a view of the kitchen and sharing family-style hand-cut egg pasta with butter and sage is about as close to Piedmont, Italy, as you'll get without a passport.
  • If you haven't enjoyed the tajarin w/ rag or butter and sage, let me ask... Why do you hate life?
  • Antipasto misto della casa is definitely the way to start...
  • Best restuarant i know of.
  • Rabbit meatball contorni! OMG!
  • in house pasta..yes please!
  • Must have tajarin.
  • Jason Stratton has made the trattoria inexorably his own with memorable pastas and Piedmont-influenced fare. Plus its recent expansion makes it (slightly) easier to get a table. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Great pasta! Save room for dessert. Their mascarpone cheesecake is to die for
  • Get the Tajarin
  • Hands down the most spectacular food on Capitol Hill. Incredible!
  • One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. The tasting menu is a serious commitment, you're probably better off a la carting.
  • Try the Caramelle Di Agnello - Lamb caramelle w pine nuts. Nom Nom Nom!!! Sooooo divine must get
  • Try the Insalata Di Cicoria Di Campo - Chicory salad w marinated rabbit. Delicious!!
  • Best pasta. Ever. Period.
  • MUST TRY the rabbit meatballs
  • Start with an aperitif of 1 part Cynar, 1 part carpano antics with a cheek of orange.
  • Sit at the bar to you can watch the pasta being made. Beautiful! Try the Poached egg with fonduta and local black truffles and the Tajarin with butter and sage- a fine cut egg pasta. top 10 for sure!
  • The pasta alone is worth a trip to this pricey, recently expanded Italian eatery on Capitol Hill. But the rest of the menu lives up to the standard set by those glorious noodles.
