Foursquare Tips

  • Australian mainland's most easterly point and great place to watch sun set over Byron. You can walk up from Watego's beach or drive.
  • Check out the Photo Pole in front of the lighthouse. U can attatch your camera, set the timer & take the perfect snap.
  • Parking at the top of the hill is $7 for cars, $3 for motorcycles. Well worth it on a hot day; otherwise, park at the bottom and walk it (slowly).
  • go use the foto pol to take a self portrait of yourself
  • Take the cliffside hike up from Captain Cook's and you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views around every turn.
  • Watch the whales and the world go by ... the most easterly point of the Australian mainland ... a must 'tick' on the 'have been there' list ... love it!
  • Absolutely worth a visit when youre in Aussie. But probably better during the autumn..
  • The $7 parking fee is worthwhile if you are making a short stop in Byron Bay. The view is spectacular, especially from Captain Cook's lookout.
  • If you are around, don't leave without coming here!
  • Great sunset run. Up the road. Down the path to watego's and back to Byron along the beach...good for the soul and the calf muscles.
  • Driving up? Read the fine print! Disappointing how if you want to enjoy a sunset & ur car is parked near the lighthouse, it'll cost $40 to be let out by an exploititive security co of Gangsters! ;-o
  • enjoy an environmentally friendly walk to see the dolphins or whales as they past - walk from wategoes beach; recently built great new cafe at the top. Green hills and blue horizons...
  • Great walk up to the Lighthouse via Watego's, but if you are running would recommend running up via road and down along the track.
