Buttermilk Fried Chicken Recipe

There are lots of fried chicken recipes so how do you know when you've found a good one? Looking for buttermilk fried chicken recipes is a good start. Buttermilk helps tenderize the chicken so your fried chicken will be moist and juicy on the inside.

We like this buttermilk fried chicken recipe because it starts with a brine (a salt solution that helps make the chicken even juicer). It requires some planning since the chicken stays in the brine overnight, but it will be well worth the wait. After the chicken is removed from the brine, it's marinated in buttermilk before being breaded with seasoned with flour and deep-fried in hot oil.

Whether you're making a traditional fried chicken recipe or an oven fried chicken, this method of brining, marinating in buttermilk, and then breading will produce perfectly crispy results every time. If you are making oven fried chicken though, you should cover your chicken with something coarse like crushed crackers or panko bread crumbs instead of flour.
