Burger King's Bacon Sundae Goes National

After testing out a bacon sundae in Nashville, Tenn., it seems like Burger King is seriously vying for their No. 2 burger spot by making the sundae national.

The AP reports that Burger King will release the bacon sundae, along with some beef, chicken, and pork sandwiches, for a limited time starting this Thursday.

The sundae, which consists of vanilla soft serve, fudge, caramel, bacon crumbles, and a whole piece of bacon, was first tested back in April for $2.49. The AP reports that it contains 510 calories, 18 grams of fat, and 61 grams of sugar. So much for going healthy.

Of course, the rest of the summer menu isn't as terrible. Burger King is also releasing a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, a Texas or Carolina barbecue whopper and chicken sandwich, sweet potato fries, and frozen lemonade.

Still it's a far cry from the healthy options the chain debuted, including fruit smoothies, snack wraps, and salads.
