Black Seed Launches New Chef-Designed Bagels For Summer

New York's Black Seed Bagels is getting ready to open a new East Village location in early August, and it's celebrating its upcoming expansion a with a line of chef-designed bagels that sounds pretty fancy.

According to a press release, Black Seed Bagels will be rolling out a new specialty bagel by one of its collaborating chefs every week this month, starting this coming Monday, July 6, with a bagel by Toro's Ken Oringer. Other chefs taking part in this lineup include Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene's, Jessica Koslow of Sqirl, Mike Solomonov of Zahav, and Philip Krajeck of Rolf & Daughters.

A new bagel will debut each Monday through the beginning of August. The bagel schedule is as follows:

Week of July 6th:

Ken Oringer of Toro: Everything bagel with trout roe cream cheese and wood-oven-charred broccoli.

Week of July 13th:

Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene's: Sunflower bagel with avocado, fresh tuna, egg crumble, lettuce, onion, and pickled pepper.

Week of July 20th:

Jessica Koslow of Sqirl: "Green Eggs + Jam" on a black cumin seed bagel — smoked vidalia onion jam, creamed spinach, and wood-oven baked "green eggs."

Week of July 27th:

Mike Solomonov of Zahav: Za'atar bagel with whipped Bulgarian feta, olive tapenade, and sliced tomato.

Week of August 3rd:

Philip Krajeck of Rolf & Daughters: Poppy bagel with cashew cheese, wood-roasted beet, and kale marmalade.
