Through January 19, 2015, the annual Holiday Ice Rink at Pershing Square will be open and feature skating under the sun, stars and skyscrapers. As LA's largest outdoor skating rink, it also features a low admission price for the area. Make sure not to miss DJ Thursday nights, skating exhibitions, Snoopy on Ice, and themed skate sessions.

For the winter-loving East coast transplants and any Angeleno who love snow, the Queen Mary's Chill event is a winter wonderland come true. Enjoy 13,000 square feet of icy igloos, complete with an ice cave, Santa's Toyland, Fairytale Castle, and a 24-foot Ship and Slide. Tucker yourself out on the 100-foot tubing trail, or glide your way around the full-sized ice skating rink. If you miss it this month, the exhibition will return in December and in January 2015.

In celebration of Movember (the time when men across the nation will try their hand at growing a glorious mustache in support of prostate cancer research), local bars and restaurants as well as members of the community come together in Venice Beach to celebrate Stouts 'n Staches. Boasting a roving block party with up to 500 attendees, it will feature craft beer, food, live music, dj's, a photo booth, VIP lounge and entertainment, and of course, a 'stache contest as part of the day's activities. The only caveat: show up with a real mustache, fake mustache or mustache gear if you want a wristband for any of the good stuff.

You'll need another excuse to gorge yourself on Thanksgiving Day, and completing the Turkey Trot L.A.'s 5k or 10k race could very well be your reason. The annual event will be held in Downtown L.A. again this year, where you'll make your way through historic sections of the city. Do one good deed for the day by bringing a few cans of non-perishable goods to be donated to the L.A. Regional Food Bank. Do another good deed (this time for the environment), and take the Metro. After a five year hiatus, holiday lights return to Griffith Park this year as the L.A. Zoo hosts this popular holiday extravaganza, illuminating the park with a family-friendly, self-guided tour. Weave your way through the zoo, sipping hot chocolate and eating other sweet treats while checking out the LED displays of tunnels and animals. The show will run nearly every night through Jan. 4.
