One of the best parts of fall is that you get to enjoy some amazing seasonal fruits and vegetables, like figs, apples, pumpkin, and, of course, pears. Pears are a versatile fruit that can be used for deserts (tarts, pies, or cakes), but they can also be incorporated into savory dishes. You can make a pear pizza, bacon-wrapped pears, or a hearty pear salad. There are so many different pear recipes to try, which is why we made the fruit the theme of this week’s SWAT (Sharing With A Theme).
We asked The Daily Meal’s Culinary Content Members to share their best pear recipes and the results will make you want to go to your nearest farmers market and buy pounds of the fruit. You can make a pear salad with Romano cheese, fennel, and prosciutto, or you can even poach your pears in red wine and toss it in a salad of mixed greens and nuts.

Autumn Apple Pear Crisp
One of the ways that you can use your ripe pears is to make an apple and pear crisp. Dan Zehr of Platter Talk blog made a wonderful apple and pear crisp that is super simple, but will impress everyone.
Poached Pear Salad with Pinot Noir
If you are making pear salad this fall, the best way to add more flavor to your dish is by poaching the pears. Carolyn Selheim-Miller of Boxes and Jars blog poached her pears in pinot noir for a half hour. After the pears are done poaching, toss them with mixed greens and nuts.
Saffron Pear Cake
Bosc pears have a distinct floral quality to them and that works really well with saffron. Beeta Hashempour of Mon Petit Four made a beautiful and moist butter cake with pears that bakers of any kind can make, which is why she’s the winner of this week’s SWAT.
