If you’re going to drink, keep your alcohol intake moderate: studies have shown an increase in abdominal obesity with regular overconsumption of alcoholic beverages. However, recipes like these that are relatively low in sugar are much better for you than the high-fructose corn syrup-laden versions you might find at a chain restaurant.
Mustard? I know. A step too far, right? You’ve got to trust me here — a little bit of mustard mixed with the right ingredients, and you’ve got a spicy and refreshing summer cocktail. I prefer to use reposado tequila when mixing with mustard as it stands up well to the salty heat the Dijon imparts. Try it out with my recipe for El Jardín for a unique and delicious departure from your normal cocktail fare.
"I dont go out with my single friends — not at all — because I never have a good time, never have fun. We go to a club, a guy comes over: 'Hey, can I buy you a drink?' They're like, 'No, she's married.' I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm married, but I'm thirsty. Why don't you shut the hell up and let me have a free drink?'"

Our friends over at ShakeStir have asked the nearly 2,000 (and growing) bartenders in their community to submit signature cocktail recipes for potential coverage on The Daily Meal. Each Wednesday, the drink that snags the most 5-star ratings (according to his or her ShakeStir peers) will be featured on The Daily Meal — along with a recipe, photo, and link to the selected bartender's profile — as part of the new weekly "Hump Day" Cocktail series.
This week's winner? Jesus Lemos, a bartender dedicated to molecular mixology. His Cherry Chamoy margarita will have you believing.
Thanks to our bartender friends at ShakeStir for contributing, and stay tuned for more Hump Day Cocktails!
