If you want an old Southern dish this would have to be it. I remember when I wwas a little bitty girl my parents and grandparents with me in tow going to look for poke salad greens. They thought it was just the best thing ever. As a little girl you could not get me to taste it but as I got older I got braver and boy was this stuff good. I asked around to all my older relatives to see if any of them remembered how Mamma or Grandma cooked it and this is the result I got.
This is a standard raw tuna (poke) salad served in most Hawaiian homes. Although unconventional, it is sure to please the more adventurous seafood lovers. Be sure to use fresh tuna for the very best flavor, although fresh frozen tuna will produce acceptable results.
