Notes: If you can't find garam masala, use these seasonings: 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne, 1/4 teaspoon cracked dried bay leaves, and 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves. Sprinkle chopped fresh cilantro onto individual portions of butter chicken, if you like.

This is a recipe I have perfected over the years and passed onto many others. The sauce is perfect when creamy and not too thick or too thin. The level of salt and spices can be suited to your taste. Garam and tandoori masala can be found in the ethnic aisle of your grocery store.

I tried this dish and an Indian buffet and fell in love. I tried one recipe on here and immediately changed the recipe, brought some to an Indian co-worker and she loved it as well. I made it with basmati rice and fresh mint from my garden. The only thing in this dish that is not light is the heavy cream I use. Enjoy

This is my family's favourite butter chicken recipe - it came about after my youngest son stayed at a friends house and they bought Indian take-away. Youngest says this is just like the one he had at his friend's. This is one of favourite dishes. Although quite often thought to be an Indian dish this recipe was actually developed in the UK.

a full flavored dish that complements the chicken well. It can be made as mild or spicy as you wish by adjusting the cayenne. Serve with basmati rice and naan bread

This recipe resembles a dish from an Indian restaurant in my town. I love it. It's got a great unique flavor to it; garam masala is the spice used. Creamy - a favorite! Serve over rice.

Murgh Makhani (otherwise known as "Butter Chicken" ) is one of my favorite Indian dishes. It is also a great dish to make for people who are new to Indian food- everybody seems to like this one! I like to make it in the slow cooker; this allows the chicken to become melt-in-your-mouth tender and super flavorful. Serve it with steamed basmati rice and naan bread for dipping!
