Paleo-friendly and gluten-free, these crispy smoked chicken wings are incredibly simple — just one ingredient. The flavor comes from the smoke and the crispiness comes from the grill. The smokiness infuses through the crispy skin and the meat, and the wings stay juicy inside. It’s a little bit of a process, but the results are worth it. "Hot wings got their start in Buffalo, N.Y., in a kitchen. Although there was no game on at the time, today spicy wings and cool sauces are traditional game-day fare. Cayenne, red sauce, and spices keep these tangy wings good and hot, just like the originals." — Nancy Chapman, Center Harbor, N.H. from Taste of Home's Recipes Accross America Click here to see 10 Iconic Recipes That Define America

Garlic ginger chicken wings
Forget the messy barbecue sauce, or hot and spicy Buffalo marinade. My go-to glaze when broiling chicken wings (or thighs, breasts, drumsticks...) is inspired by the cuisines of the Far West. Garlic for a kick, fresh ginger for a sweet note with tang, combined with a mixture of a neutral oil (such as grapeseed), soy or tamari sauce, and maple syrup. While I simply combined all the ingredients in a bowl, it leaves bits of garlic and ginger (which I prefer). For a smoother glaze, purée the liquids together with the garlic and ginger before adding the chicken wing. Click here to see 7 Creative Ways to Make Wings.

Here’s a way to avoid wet naps. Instead of dousing your wings in an ooey, gooey barbecue sauce, try breading them in crushed up barbecue chips instead.  You’ll find that you still get that beloved barbecue taste along with double the texture.
