First had these at my brother's and thought they were great. Looked at a ton of recipes and came up with this personal recipe. They end up as a cross between baked beans and refried beans with a kick. Great served with corn bread or corn tortillas.
"Most people prefer margaritas either frozen or on the rocks. In Texas, it's the same with refried beans versus charro," says Tim Love. Refried beans are made with mashed pintos; for charroa Tex-Mex take on pork and beansthe beans are served whole in a spicy broth.
The slower you cook this, the better it will taste. It will also taste better the next day. Serve over rice. If you don't have fresh ingredients available, you can substitute Rotel tomatoes for the tomatoes, onions and jalapeño.
