Batting cages are a fun and productive way to spend the day. Cleveland has a ton of batting cages to choose from, some outdoor and some indoor for when the weather gets bad. Each has baseballs and softballs to chose from and varying pitch speeds. Most have restaurants and or ice cream shops onsite, so you can have a sweet treat when you are done batting.

Lost Nation Sports Park has some of the best batting cages in the area. The cages are inside, so rain or shine, you can get some batting practice in here. The batting cages feature nine (9) "Iron Mike" pitching machines, including fast-pitch from 45-75 MPH, slow-pitch softball and fast-pitch softball. Hours are Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sometimes the batting cages are closed for private parties, so it's a good idea to call before you go. Once you are done batting, you can stick around to enjoy lunch or dinner at the onsite restaurant, The Players Club.

Swings-N-Things is home to Ohio's largest batting range. The cages are outside, but are covered and have a ball drying system that allows players to bat even in the rain. There are 15 different pitching machines to choose from, including slow pitch and fast pitch softball and baseball, ranging in speed from 40 to 80 mph. Swings-N-Things offers unlimited hitting, so you can use the batting cages all day long for $7.99. Hours vary, so check the Swings-N-Things website for up-to-date hours of operation.

Bat-A-Rama has five hardball machines, with speeds ranging from 30 to 80 mph. There are also four softball slow pitch machines and one fast pitch softball machine. Bat-A-Rama is unique in that you can pick not only the speed of the pitch, but also the height. The machines take tokens, which cost $2, and each token is equal to 15 pitches. Hours of operation are from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. in June, July and August, and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays in September and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. When you are done batting, grab some homemade ice cream at the Ice Cream Dugout.

Baseball Batting Cages @ Brecksville (BBCB) is an indoor batting facility and is open year round. The newly remodeled BBCB has baseball and softball machines that pitch in range from 35 to 70 mph. The facility has new netting and LED lighting. Tokens are $1 and are equal to 16 pitches.You can make reservations and see cage availability on the website's online scheduling system. BBCB is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
