You can warm up with the slow and medium batting speeds, then test your mettle against the major league pitching speed. There are also two softball batting cages. Novelty Golf also has miniature golf and a game room, so there's something for everyone. When you're finished, check out the venue's onsite restaurant, the Bunny Hutch, which offers burgers, ice cream and other options. This summer and fall, make the Northbrook Batting Cages at Techny Prairie Park and Fields part of your batting practice. There are six batting cages onsite, with baseballs pitched in all six cages. Softballs are pitched in four of the cages. You can adjust the pitching speed, too, so that you are at a speed that meets your abilities. Safety comes first and helmets are required. Don't have a helmet? Don't worry, as the helmets are provided free of charge. You can also bring your own bat, if you'd prefer. The batting cages are open through October 19, 2014.

After a Cubs game, you and your crew can practice batting at Sluggers World Class Bar And Dueling Piano. Located just a few blocks south of Wrigley Field, Sluggers offers plenty of options for people to try their hand in the bar's batting cages. Hardball, softball, fast pitch and slow pitch options are available, and the speed can be adjusted for kids. Batting cages are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sluggers' game room offers plenty of other options, too, including pinball, electronic basketball and video games. In addition, the game room can be rented out for parties. Adults should also plan to stick around for the bar's famous dueling pianos, too.

As long as the weather is above 55 degrees, the batting cage will be open, weather permitting. For $2, you get 25 pitches, and additional rates of pitches are available for purchase. Slow and fast pitches are available for softball, and slow, medium, fast and very fast pitches are available for baseball. The batting cages are open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, making them the perfect way to end your evening. For $1, you get 15 pitches, and you can select from slow, medium and fast pitches for hard ball, while the softball option has slow and fast pitches. You can also rent out the batting cage if you'd like to put in some serious practice time. After a few rounds in the batting cage, you and your friends can check out the miniature golf course and stop for snacks at the park's concession stand.
