Ben & Jerry’s Unveils New SUPERPACK

Pint package highlights money in politics


Do-gooding ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s has found yet another way to call attention to the ever-expanding role that large corporations are playing in the political process with its newest pint package, a reimagining of the popular flavor AmeriCone Dream, which debuted in 2007 as a collaboration with comedian Stephen Colbert.

The new packaging adds red, white, and blue election streamers, an Uncle Sam hat, and the words "SUPERPACK" around the lid, making this pint a collector’s edition (we suggest you eat the ice cream first before displaying it on your mantle, assuming you have a mantle). On the back, dessert lovers will find a special message from the ice cream duo urging consumers to head to www.GetTheDoughOut.org, the hub of their yearlong campaign to have Citizens United — which allowed all this corporate money to be injected in the first place — overturned. Dessert has never been more partisan, or more delicious.
