  • The museum was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta who also designed the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
  • Although it isn't crammed with cocktail tables, the Bechtler lobby does sport a bar, some club seating and surprisingly fine acoustics.
  • A new museum featuring the Bechtler family's private collection. Works by artists such as Giacometti and Miro are on public display for the first time.
  • Come hear some great jazz on the first friday of each month. Get there early or buy your tickets online the day before or you might miss out.

  • Jazz for Lovers on 2/3 at 6pm: The Ziad Jazz quartet will set the scene for romance while guest vocalist Toni Tupponce croons ballads to get you in the mood for love.

  • Check out the museum store...fabulous modern art books!
  • The place is beautiful, it was super crowded opening day but I can't wait to go again!
  • At the gift shop, we've found an ink pen disguised as a tube of paint. Folks may also browse books on art, prints of museum works, T-shirts of the "Firebird" and other cool stuff.
  • City-contributed funds to build this facility were raised through an increase on the rental-car tax, supported by the hospitality industry, would be a key source for the citys contribution.

  • The Alexander Calder and Andy Warhol works are AMAZING!!! The museum even has some Picasso pieces!
  • Just try to get past the gift shop without buying anything. Go on then,i dare ya. I couldn't.
  • When on the 4th floor, ask the security person to turn on the motorized Tinguely pieces. Pretty cool, especially the Santana piece.
  • You feel like you're not in Charlotte...the gift shop is the ultimate and the food in the cafe is from Porcupine. YUM
  • It is a very small museum with great pieces. The 4th floor is the golden ticket here. Was able to get discount on tickets through groupon. Gift shop is full of stuff you'd want to take home!
  • The sculpture out front is fascinating.
  • If you pay for admission here, you get a discount at the Mint Museum Uptown across the street.
  • The building is a great piece of architecture.
