Battle Of The Bones Heats Up

Battle of the Bones,a fierce and fiery barbecue competition, kicks off on June 22 – 24 in Central Point, Ore. at Twin Creeks Park where locals fight for barbecue bragging rights. The weekend includes barbecue cook-offs and a rib-eating competition.

Battle of the Bones features 10 teams cooking 500 pounds of meat and 10 gallons of chili in order to compete for bragging rights and a share of $10,000. Locals can sample and vote for their favorites by buying a 12-pack of tasting tickets.

Other barbecue eats, including St. Louis pork ribs, shrimp and chicken Kabobs and pulled pork, can be washed down with over 30 craft beers that will be on tap. A $10 ticket includes a souvenir glass and 16 two-ounce tastes of craft beer or 10 one-ounce tastes of wines plus the chance to vote on favorite gulps.

Each day there is a rib-eating competition, challenging all participants who pay the $10 entry fee to eat as many ribs as they can within a three-minute period.

Proceeds from Battle of the Bones benefit the Central Point Parks and Recreation Foundation.
