  • Hard to find but well worth it - an unspoilt old pub with lovely atmosphere, unusual guest beers, and bargain toasted sandwiches

  • The cherry tree preserved in this pub was once the dividing line between the estates of the Bishop of Ely and Queens favourite Sir Christopher Hatton famous feuding neighbours of Tudor London.
  • This spooky ancient tavern is where Dan Brown would buy a beer if he was in town. Shadowy alleys lead into a medieval courtyard where a sign reveals Ye Olde Mitre was built by Bishop Goodrich in 1546.
  • It is a welcome oasis of calm & the 2 tiny, wood-panelled rooms are usually filled with people enjoying some of the best kept real ales in London.

  • Can't find? Look for the Fullers sign about 10m down Hatton Garden on the right hand side and head through the arch
  • Worth going out if your way to track this place down. Go early because it gets packed, and scope out the upstairs for hidden seats. Best alleyway drinking we found on our trip.
